Acupuncture and TCM herb for low blood platelet

Patients with low platelet count can be found in diseases related to liver and spleen function.

For general, platelet count less than 80~100×109/L, the hemostasis will be slower; less than50~80×109/L, will easily have bruising or heavy menstrual bleeding; less than 50×109/L, will cause ecchymoses (singular ecchymosis); less than 20×109/L, it would make patient in danger as any injury can cause intracranial hemorrhage or gastrointestinal bleeding.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the heart controls the blood circulation, the liver stores blood and the spleen governs the blood. Therefore, we enforce the liver and spleen function to balance the whole blood functioning.

In this case, the patient had a lower platelet count which also related to easily bleeding after bowel movement. After acupuncture and herb formula, we could see the platelet count back to normal and so as well his bleeding reduced.
